Giving Back to the Community

As part of their leadership training, students at Eta College – Kumba, Benesure Campus are required to participate in activities which give back to the community, their town, their country and their world. We have a number of defined programs which students can participate in. Bookshare is one where, using some of our primary readers from our library, the students visit local primary schools and read with younger students.
Math and Essay Contest
Eta College – Kumba delivers the Cameroon Ministry of Education’s curriculum for Forms 1 through 6 in an exciting and innovative way.
The Math and Essay Contest is held every spring in Kumba. We offer a scholarship to the top 3 students from the contest to attend Eta College. In addition, this contest provides local primary schools with a measure of their students’ performance. We offer assistance in improving their students’ literacy and numeracy through the loaning of textbooks and readers, as well as encouraging teacher-to-teacher collaboration on what works well for learning in the classroom setting.
Teacher Training at Eta College
Operational funding enables each of our schools (Eta College — Kumba, Benesure Campus and Eta Bilingual Nursery and Primary School) to invest in the continuous professional development of our teachers through annual training programs. This sustained commitment fosters the growth of elite education while empowering our schools to develop high-quality educational resources from within Africa itself.
At Eta College, this approach ensures that teaching practices remain current, relevant, and rooted in local contexts.
